Blackjack Surrender Review

There are so many Blackjack games online today, that it’s difficult to choose which one to play. Well then, let us help you out! Play Blackjack Surrender! It was created by Playtech in 2009, and it remains the most player version of online Blackjack over a decade later!

The reasons for this game being so crazily popular despite its age are many – the graphics, the sounds, the easy interface, the simple rules, the bet sizes, the payouts and the chances of winning! So, if you wish to join in on the fun, then read our detailed review of this game first!

Blackjack Surrender Gameplay

The average RTP of Blackjack Surrender is a whopping 99.66%, which means that the house edge is low enough for you to get some serious wins in this game. To start the game, you need to set your bets. The minimum bet allowed is £1, while the maximum is £300. You can use the chips lined up at the bottom of the table to set your bet size. If you get a Blackjack, you win 3:2, if you win against the dealer you win 1:1, and if you took insurance, then you get a 2:1 payout.

Once you have set your bet, you can click on the Deal button to begin your game. The rules of the game are pretty much the same as regular Blackjack, with some special features that we’ll delve into later. Here’s how this game works. Blackjack Surrender is played with six sets of 52-card decks.

In this game, you can play as many as 5 different hands all at the same time. When the game begins, the cards are dealt out. All 5 sets of your cards are dealt face-up. The dealer also gets two cards, but the first is face-up and the second is placed face-down.

Hit or Stand?

Based on the cards you have, you can choose to hit, stand or surrender. The aim of the game is to get a total of 21, or as close to it as possible – without crossing that number. To win, your total should be higher than the dealer’s, but less than or equal to 21.

There are specific strategies that you can use to increase your chances of winning at Blackjack Surrender. For example, if you have pairs, then the best strategy would be to split your cards. Or, if your total is close to 21, then it would be best to stand. If you have low-value cards, then you can hit, but if you have medium-value cards, you take a gamble and hit or stand.

At the end of the day, only experience will teach you the best strategies, so we suggest you play the free demo version of the game before you invest real money in Blackjack Surrender. Alternatively, use a blackjack guide to better your chances of a win!

Additional Game Features

Now that the basics of the game are clear, let’s talk about the additional features in this game. Let’s take it step-by-step.

Dealer Peek: In this game, if the dealer’s face-up card has a value of 10 or A, then they get a chance to peek at their second card to check for a Blackjack.

Insurance: If the dealer got a peek at their cards, then you are offered insurance. In fact, you are offered insurance before the dealer gets to peek. You can choose to accept or decline the offer. If you accept the insurance, then half your bet is added to your total. when the dealer gets a Blackjack, then you win back half your original bet. If you win, you get a 2:1 payout. Use your insurance strategically. If you have a high-value card like the dealer’s you can take a chance and use the insurance. However, if your card value is too low, it is best to use the Surrender option.

Surrender: This is how this game gets its name! This is a feature unique to this version of Blackjack. If you feel that you have been dealt a poor hand, then you can surrender. If you do so, then you will get back half your bet. However, please note that you can only use the Surrender option after the initial deal. If you hit or stand or use Insurance, then you can no longer surrender.

7-Card Charlie: In this version of Blackjack, the 7-Card Charlie rule is applicable, which means that if you have drawn 7 cards without a bust, then you automatically win the game.

Other Bets: There are other bets that you can make in this game. You can Double and Split, but you cannot re-Split.

Game Design

Playtech’s reputation for creating great game design continues with Blackjack Surrender. The graphics and sounds are outstanding, a literal visual treat for the eyes. And if you don’t quite like the way the table looks, then you can go ahead and change its colour to any one of the 10 options presented. We personally loved the white table!

And if you wish to pick up the pace of the game, you can use the Fast Play option. You will find this option in the menu tab of the game.

The overall feel of the game is actually perfect. The way the game has been designed, it looks and feels as good as the day it was released!

Summary

Playtech’s Blackjack Surrender is one of the most played versions of Blackjack in online casinos. However, because of the low house edge, there are many casinos that will not offer this game, so you should check the Playtech casinos for this game.

If a game can still retain such a high level of popularity even after so many years, it’s definitely a game worth playing. So, go ahead and try your luck with Blackjack Surrender now.
