Verkkopankki Casinos: Paying from a Finnish Online Bank

Verkkopankki is the Finnish word for online banking. It is not a company, an app or a payment brand. Every Finnish bank runs its own online bank, so your verkkopankki is whatever you log in to at Nordea, OP Pohjola or wherever you hold your account.

That has two practical consequences. There is no Verkkopankki fee list or support desk, because questions about a payment go to your own bank. And you will not find a Verkkopankki button in a casino cashier.

Nordea, for example, sells merchants a service called E-maksu that takes payments straight from online banking. It describes the steps like this.

1. At checkout you choose the bank payment.
2. You are sent to your own bank, where you log in.
3. You confirm the payment with the same tools you use for everyday banking.
4. You are returned to the merchant.

You log in on your bank's own page, not on the merchant's. E-maksu also has a refund function, which lets the merchant send a payment back to you.

If you send an ordinary credit transfer from your online bank instead, your bank has checked since 9 October 2025 that the payee name you enter matches the name on the receiving account. How the result is shown depends on the bank.

A bank payment appears under the name of the service that carries it, or simply as a bank transfer. These guides cover services that connect to Finnish bank accounts.

• Euteller: an instant bank payment that works with Finnish banks, in euros only.
• Zimpler: an account-to-account payment service offered in Finland.
• Bank transfer: a standard transfer made from your online bank.

Before you deposit, check three things in the cashier: which of these it offers, any fee shown before you confirm, and how withdrawals are paid. A withdrawal is a separate payment sent to your bank account, so look at the payout options as well.

Siirto is a Finnish mobile payment that lets you send money using a phone number. Its standalone app was withdrawn on 3 June 2026, and Siirto is now a feature inside Nordea's mobile bank. As of October 2026 it is available to Nordea and OP customers aged 15 or over. It has no payment limit of its own, although the daily limits on your account still apply. A casino's cashier will show whether it is offered.

Since 1 January 2023, Finnish law has required banks and other payment providers to block payments to gambling companies named on a list kept by the National Police Board.

Finland's new Gambling Act (10/2026) creates a licence for betting, online casino games, online slot games and online bingo. Lotteries stay under a separate exclusive licence, as do slot machines and casino games that are not played online.
