Pick the number of mines and how many safe tiles you want to reveal: see the exact chance, the fair multiplier and what your game pays at its house edge — for every pick from the first to the last.
The house edge is 100% minus the game's RTP. Spribe publishes 97% for its Mines, a 3% edge; other Mines games set their own, so check the game's rules.

Mines strategy: what the maths says
What it can do
Choose your risk: few mines and an early cash-out win often and small; many mines or long runs win rarely and big. Decide your cash-out point before you start revealing.
What it can't do
Find safer tiles. Corners, patterns and “hot” spots make no difference: every hidden tile is equally likely to be a mine, and the house edge is the same at every cash-out.
Questions
How are the odds in Mines calculated?
Each reveal picks one of the tiles still hidden. With m mines on 25 tiles, the first pick is safe (25 − m) ÷ 25 of the time, the second (24 − m) ÷ 24, and so on; multiply them for a run of safe picks. With 3 mines, 5 safe picks in a row happen 49.57% of the time.
How is the Mines multiplier worked out?
The fair multiplier is 1 ÷ the chance of your run of safe picks. A game with a fixed house edge pays that times (1 − the edge), so every cash-out point returns the same percentage on average. Enter your game’s edge in the calculator to compare with its multipliers.
What is the RTP of Mines?
It depends on the version. Spribe publishes a return to player of 97% for its Mines, a 3% house edge. Other Mines games set their own: check the game’s rules or help screen, and enter its edge in the calculator.
Is there a Mines strategy that works?
No pattern of tiles is safer than another: the mines are placed at random, and every hidden tile is equally likely to hide one. More mines and more picks only raise the multiplier and lower the chance — the average return stays the same.
What are the odds of revealing every safe tile?
With 1 mine, clearing all 24 safe tiles happens 4.00% of the time (1 in 25). With 3 mines, clearing all 22 happens 1 in 2,300 games.
