Craps looks chaotic and plays simple: a couple of bets carry nearly all the value, and everything else on the felt is decoration. Demo play is where you learn which is which without paying tuition.

How free craps works

A round starts with the come-out roll. Bet the Pass Line: 7 or 11 wins instantly, 2, 3 or 12 loses, and any other total sets the “point”. From there the shooter rolls until the point repeats (Pass wins) or a 7 lands (Pass loses). Don’t Pass is the near-mirror bet on the other side.

That one paragraph is most of the game. The demo table runs the same sequence and payouts as real money, so you can place line bets, back them with odds, and ignore the rest of the layout until you understand what it costs.

The craps bets that matter

  1. Pass Line / Don’t Pass

The foundation bets at 1.41% and 1.36% house edge. Everything else is judged against these.

  2. Free Odds

After a point is set, back your line bet with odds — paid at true probability, zero house edge. Take the maximum the table allows.

  3. Come / Don’t Come

The same maths as the line bets, made mid-round. They let you keep multiple numbers working without touching the bad bets.

  4. Place 6 and 8

At 1.52% edge, the only “extra” numbers worth placing directly.

  5. Proposition bets

Any 7, hardways, field — edges from 5.56% to 16.67%. They exist for the thrill, not the maths.

Craps FAQ

Find answers to the most common questions about Craps below.

What is the best bet in craps?

Pass Line (1.41% house edge) or Don’t Pass (1.36%) backed with maximum Free Odds, which pay at true odds with no house edge at all. That combination is one of the strongest plays in any casino.

What bets should I avoid in craps?

The centre-table proposition bets. Any 7 carries a 16.67% edge, hardways run 9–11%, and the Field sits around 5.56% on standard paytables — all far worse than the line bets.

Can I play craps for free?

Yes — every table on this page is a free demo. No download, registration or deposit, and the rules, sequence and payouts match real-money craps exactly.

Is online craps rigged?

Not at licensed casinos — outcomes come from certified RNGs audited by independent labs, and live-dealer versions roll physical dice on stream. Stick to licensed operators; every casino we list shows its licence.

Does dice setting or “controlled shooting” work online?

No. Online rolls are RNG events, so there is nothing to control — and the evidence it works with physical dice is thin at best. Treat every roll as random.

Can I win real money on free craps?

No — demo credits have no cash value. To win real money you need a real-money table at a licensed casino; each game page lists where to play.
