Wicked Grin is a Hacksaw Gaming slot released on 8 October 2026, a black-and-white piece built around Boney Bill and a reel-wide expanding symbol. Its headline numbers are a 96.27% RTP in the best published version, a volatility rating of 3/5 on Hacksaw's own five-point scale and a maximum win of 10,000x the stake. Coins carry the value, Multipliers of up to x20 lift them, and two bonus games of 5 to 30 free spins sit on top. The free demo above runs the studio's demo build with play money only, which is the sensible way to see how often the expansions happen before any real stake is involved.
How Wicked Grin Plays
Hacksaw labels the win type all-scatter and publishes nothing more about it: no grid size, no reel or row count and no minimum symbol count for a win. We will not fill those gaps. What the studio does describe is the mechanism that drives most of the value, and it is positional rather than line-based.
Everything starts on the bottom row. When a Wicked Grin or Super Wicked Grin symbol lands there, it expands up its reel. An expanded Wicked Grin transforms every symbol on that reel into Coins or Multipliers. A Multiplier then applies its value to all Coins above it, and also to Coins on adjacent reels in the rows above. So the payout from an expansion depends on three things: how many Coins it produces, how high any Multiplier sits on the reel, and whether neighbouring reels hold Coins in the rows above that Multiplier.
A Super Wicked Grin adds a chain effect. When it expands, any Wicked Grin symbols on adjacent reels expand from their current positions. That matters because a normal Wicked Grin only expands from the bottom row; the Super version can bring in Wicked Grins that would otherwise have done nothing.
Features and What They Do to the Maths
Wicked Grin and Super Wicked Grin symbols
These are the base game's real payout engine. A spin without a bottom-row Wicked Grin has to rely on the ordinary all-scatter wins, which Hacksaw does not quantify. A spin with one converts a reel into Coins and Multipliers, and a Super Wicked Grin next to other Wicked Grins can convert several reels at once. That is a high-dependency design: most of the value is concentrated in the spins where these symbols land in the right place, and the rest of the time the game is ticking over.
Multipliers and the Diamond Coin
Hacksaw gives only the top values: Multipliers reach x20 and the Diamond Coin reveals up to 500x. The full range of Coin values and Multiplier values is not published. Those two ceilings explain how the 10,000x maximum is reachable in principle, since a high Coin under a high Multiplier is already a large result, but they say nothing about what a typical expansion pays.
Spreading FS symbols and the bonus trigger
When at least one FS or Super FS symbol sits on the bottom row, each FS symbol expands to cover its entire reel. The number of free spins is then the sum of all numbers on positions by each FS symbol, which is how the award ranges from 5 to 30 spins. Expanding at least one FS symbol triggers the standard bonus; expanding at least one Super FS symbol triggers the other.
Stash N Stack
The standard bonus places a Stash above each reel, and that Stash multiplies the Coin values on its reel. Hacksaw does not publish how the Stash multipliers grow during the round, so the most important number in this bonus is missing.
Coin Collectors
The Super FS bonus uses Coin Collectors that save all Coin values until the end of the bonus. In effect, the round banks value spin by spin and pays the accumulated total at the close, which makes it the more back-loaded of the two bonuses. Hacksaw also lists a feature called Coin Craze, but its published text does not describe what it does.
Reading the Maths
At 96.27% in the top version, Wicked Grin matches Rotten exactly and sits close to Snow Slingers at 96.29%, so the best version is in line with the studio's recent releases rather than ahead of them. The house edge in that version is 3.73%. The problem is the spread: Hacksaw lists four RTP versions, 96.27%, 94.32%, 92.28% and 86.28%, and the bottom one carries a house edge of 13.72%, almost four times the top version's. Hacksaw's page does not say which version a given casino runs. Check the game's information screen first.
A 3/5 rating places the game in the middle of Hacksaw's scale, but the feature design points to a session shape that can feel swingier than the number suggests. Value clusters in the spins where a Wicked Grin expands and in the two bonus games, and neither the hit rate nor the bonus trigger frequency is published. Without those figures, the practical bankroll rule is to stake low enough that a long stretch of quiet spins does not end the session before an expansion or a bonus lands.
The 10,000x maximum equals the x10000 Arctic Duel lists and is double the 5,000x of Ronin Stackways. It is a ceiling, not an expectation; reaching it would need high Coins and Multipliers stacking across several reels, most plausibly inside a bonus.
What is not published: the grid size, the hit rate, the bonus trigger frequency, the full Coin and Multiplier value ranges, how the Stash multipliers grow, the bet range and maximum bet, any Bonus Buy options, prices or markets, and which RTP version a casino runs.
Wicked Grin vs Comparable Releases
| Game | Studio | RTP | Volatility | Max win |

| Snow Slingers | Hacksaw Gaming | 96.29% | Medium | Not published |
| Arctic Duel | Bullshark Games | 96.3% | High | x10000 |
The RTPs are close enough that the choice between these titles comes down to mechanics and to which version your casino runs. The rest of the studio's catalogue is on our Hacksaw Gaming games hub.
Who Wicked Grin Suits, and Who Should Skip It
Wicked Grin suits players who like positional mechanics: a symbol that has to land in a specific row, transforms a reel, and pays more depending on what sits beside and above it. If you enjoy reading a grid for near-misses and chain reactions, the Super Wicked Grin's adjacent expansions and the two contrasting bonuses give it real texture.
Skip it if you want steady returns from ordinary wins, or if you dislike playing without knowing how often the main feature appears. The base game leans on one symbol landing on one row, and the key bonus number, the Stash growth, is unpublished. For other options, our new slots page collects other recent releases. Casinofy is for players aged 18+; if you play for real money, do it at a casino licensed in the country where you live and with a fixed budget.
Verdict
Wicked Grin is a thoughtfully designed Hacksaw release with a clear core mechanic, two bonuses that behave differently and a 10,000x ceiling backed by x20 Multipliers and a 500x Diamond Coin. Its top RTP is fair rather than exceptional, and the published maths is thin: no hit rate, no bonus frequency and no Stash growth figures. The four RTP versions, running down to 86.28%, are the real risk. Played at the top version, it is a solid, well-built game for players who enjoy positional features.
