Clover Club is a 6x5 all-scatter slot from Bullshark Games, released on 25 March 2025 and built and distributed on Hacksaw Gaming's OpenRGS platform. The theme is an Irish-flavoured nightclub — music, drinks, shamrocks — but the numbers are what matter here: 96.31% RTP by default, a 25.38% hit rate, volatility rated 4 out of 5 on the studio's own scale, and a 12,000x maximum win. The demo above runs the studio's free-play build with a play-money balance, so you can watch the cascade loop and the multiplier mechanic behave without staking anything. It is a genuinely useful way to see how long the quiet stretches are before you commit real funds. 18+ only.
One housekeeping note before anything else: Clover Club is not available to UK players. The studio's sheet lists approvals for Malta, Curacao, Denmark, Latvia, Spain, the Netherlands, Ontario, Romania, Greece, Colombia and Buenos Aires Province, with the UK, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Brazil and Georgia excluded.
How the game plays
There are no paylines and no ways. Clover Club is a pure scatter-pay game across a 6x5 grid of 30 positions: land 8 or more matching symbols anywhere on the screen and you are paid, regardless of where they sit. Winning symbols are then removed and new ones fall in, so a single spin can chain into several consecutive wins before it resolves.
That structure is the reason the hit rate sits where it does. At 25.38%, roughly one spin in four returns something, which is low by scatter-pay standards — the 8-symbol minimum on a 30-cell grid is a demanding entry requirement, and it means the base game is built around occasional multi-step cascades rather than a steady drip of small wins. Compare it with the studio's own Merlin's Mania, which uses the identical 6x5 all-scatter layout but pays on 35.77% of spins; Clover Club is deliberately the tighter, spikier of the two.
The features and what they do to the maths
Multiplier Wilds
When winning symbols are cleared, 1 to 3 Multiplier Wild symbols drop in beneath them. Crucially, these cannot land on a regular spin — they only exist as a consequence of a win, which ties the entire multiplier engine to the cascade loop. If a subsequent win includes one of those Wilds, its value is unlocked and added to the Global Multiplier before the win is calculated. If the Wild is never involved in a win, its multiplier is simply discarded.
The practical effect is that value is heavily back-loaded onto long cascade chains. A one-step win pays its base value and nothing more. A four- or five-step chain compounds, because each clear seeds more Wilds and each subsequent win can fold them into the running multiplier. This is where the return actually lives, and it is why a 25.38% hit rate does not feel generous in practice: a large share of those hits are single-step and small.
Green and Golden Clover Vaults
Three scatters open the Green Clover Vault with 8 free spins, four scatters with 10. Five scatters trigger the Golden Clover Vault with 12 spins, and this is the premium version: the minimum additive multiplier on a Wild is 3x, and the Global Multiplier is progressive for the entire feature rather than resetting per spin. Each additional scatter during the round adds +1 spin.
A progressive multiplier across 12 spins with a 3x floor is the only realistic path to the 12,000x ceiling. Everything else in the game is a stepping stone to that configuration.
Reading the maths
RTP versions
The default build returns 96.31%, which is a fair figure. However, Clover Club also ships in a 94.25% version, and the operator chooses which one to run. That is a 2.06 percentage point gap — more than double the usual house edge difference between a good and a poor slot — and it is invisible unless you look. Open the game's info screen at your casino and confirm the RTP before your first spin. This applies once and applies always.
Bonus frequency
In the base game, any bonus arrives once every 219.8 spins on average. Split out, that is 1 in 244.1 for the Green Clover Vault and 1 in 2,209.3 for the Golden. In other words, roughly one bonus in ten is the Golden version; nine in ten are the smaller Green round.
Those are not symmetrical waits. A 1-in-219.8 trigger means the median gap between bonuses is around 150 spins, and about one session in ten will run 500 spins without a single trigger. The Golden Vault is effectively a once-a-fortnight event for a regular player — over 2,200 spins you have only a roughly two-in-three chance of seeing one at all.
Where available, the purchase and hunt options reshape this. BonusHunt FeatureSpins compresses any bonus to 1 in 43.8 (Green 1 in 48.7, Golden 1 in 440.2), roughly a fivefold acceleration that preserves the same one-in-ten Golden share. Note the RTP cost: BonusHunt FeatureSpins returns 96.26% and Fortune Club FeatureSpins 96.30%, both marginally under the 96.31% base. Direct feature buys sit at 96.33% for the Green Vault and 96.29% for the Golden — the Green buy is the only route that nudges above the default, and only by two hundredths of a point. These differences are small enough to be noise for most players; the acceleration is the real product being sold.
Volatility and bankroll
A 4-of-5 volatility rating with a sub-26% hit rate and a 220-spin bonus cycle tells you to size your stake for endurance, not for spike-chasing. A rough working rule: budget at least 400–500 spins at your chosen bet to give yourself a reasonable shot at two or more bonus rounds. At the 0.10 minimum that is a modest outlay; near the 100 maximum it is not a casual proposition. The 12,000x cap is a legitimate figure but it is a tail outcome, not a target.
How it compares within the Bullshark range
| Game | RTP | Hit rate | Max win | Grid |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Clover Club | 96.31% | 25.38% | 12,000x | 6x5 all-scatter |
| Merlin's Mania | 96.31% | 35.77% | 12,000x | 6x5 all-scatter |
| Merlin's Alchemy | 96.25% | 24.84% | 10,000x | 6x5 all-scatter |
| Age Of Seth | 96.29% | 29.11% | 10,000x | 6x5 cluster |
Read across and the positioning is clear. Against Merlin's Mania, Clover Club trades ten points of hit frequency for a volatility step up with no change in RTP or ceiling — a straight swap of rhythm for spikiness. Against Merlin's Alchemy it offers a near-identical hit rate with a 2,000x higher ceiling and a slightly better headline return, which makes it the stronger of that pair on paper. The wider Bullshark Games catalogue is worth scanning if you want something gentler; Piggy Cluster Hunt and Amazing Miceketeers both pay on well over a third of spins.
Who it suits and who should skip it
Clover Club suits players who understand cascade-and-multiplier maths and are comfortable with long dry stretches between meaningful events. If you enjoy watching a chain build and are playing for the Golden Vault rather than the base game, the design rewards patience and a stake set well below what your bankroll could nominally support.
Skip it if you want frequent small returns, if your session budget runs to a hundred spins or so, or if you cannot verify the RTP version at your casino. A player on the 94.25% build is giving up materially more than they probably realise on a game that already asks for volume.
Verdict
This is a competently engineered high-variance scatter-pay slot with an honest default RTP, a coherent multiplier engine and feature pricing that does not gouge. The deductions are specific: the 94.25% alternative build is a real risk to uninformed players, the 1-in-2,209 Golden Vault frequency puts the headline mechanic well out of reach for most sessions, and a 12,000x ceiling is only mid-table within Bullshark's own range given Holy Heist offers 20,000x. The theme is pleasant enough without being distinctive. Good game, demanding maths, check your info screen.
Clover Club pros & cons
- 96.31% default RTP is a fair headline figure, and the feature-buy returns (96.26%-96.33%) stay honest rather than being quietly shaved
- Progressive Global Multiplier with a 3x Wild floor in the Golden Clover Vault gives the 12,000x ceiling a credible mechanical route
- Multiplier Wilds tie reward directly to cascade length, which makes the big hits feel earned rather than arbitrary
- BonusHunt FeatureSpins cuts the bonus wait from 1 in 219.8 to 1 in 43.8 while preserving the same Green-to-Golden ratio
- A 94.25% RTP version exists and operators choose which to run, a 2.06-point gap that is invisible unless you open the info screen
- 25.38% hit rate is low for a 6x5 all-scatter game, with the 8-symbol minimum producing long unpaid stretches
- Golden Clover Vault at 1 in 2,209.3 base-game spins means most players will never see the game's best configuration
- Not available to UK players, and also excluded from Sweden, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Brazil
