Gobstopper Grind is a 6x5 cascading all-scatter slot from Bullshark Games, released on 12 May 2026 and distributed on Hacksaw Gaming's OpenRGS platform. The headline figures are a default RTP of 96.27%, a hit frequency of 26.24% and a maximum win of 10,000x the stake. The demo above runs the studio's free-play build with a play-money balance, so you can watch the cell multiplier mechanic behave across a few hundred spins without staking anything. That is worth doing here, because the shape of this game is not obvious from a paytable screenshot. Gobstopper Grind is not available to UK players; the studio's sheet lists approvals for Malta, Curacao, Denmark, Latvia, Spain, the Netherlands, Ontario, Romania, Greece, Georgia, Portugal, Colombia and Buenos Aires Province, and explicitly excludes the UK, Sweden, Germany, Croatia, Italy and Brazil. 18+ only.

How the game plays

There are no paylines and no ways. The win type is all-scatter: you need eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the 6x5 grid for a payout, and position is irrelevant. Winning symbols are removed and new ones cascade in, so a single spin can resolve into a chain of consecutive wins rather than a single result.

The engine that makes those chains matter is the Cell Multiplier system. Each of the 30 cells can hold its own multiplier. When a winning symbol occupies a cell, that cell's multiplier increases by 1x after the win is calculated, so the first win on an empty cell leaves behind an x1 rather than boosting the win that created it. From that point on, any win that includes a symbol sitting on a multiplied cell has that value applied. If several multiplied cells contribute symbols to the same win, their values are added together and then applied as one figure.

Crucially, Cell Multipliers are progressive during cascades but reset with every new spin. That single rule defines the base game's distribution. A one-cascade hit is worth close to face value. A five- or six-cascade chain is where the multipliers start compounding against each other, because by then the same cells have been fed repeatedly. The theoretical ceiling on a single cell is x100,000, which is a number you will almost never see but which tells you the maths has plenty of headroom above the 10,000x cap.

The features and what they do to the maths

Collector Symbol

The Collector can appear as any paying symbol. When it lands, it reads the Cell Multipliers of every adjacent cell and adds those values to the multiplier of the cell it landed on. Each adjacent cell keeps its own value, so nothing is lost; the effect is concentration rather than transfer. In distribution terms the Collector converts a spread of small multipliers into one large one, which skews the outcome curve: it increases the chance of a disproportionate single payout in a long cascade while doing very little on a two-symbol-cluster spin that ends immediately.

Candy Haul

The main bonus game. Triggering it makes all Cell Multipliers stay active for the entire feature instead of resetting each spin. That is the whole point of the round, and it is why the base game's reset rule feels so restrictive by comparison. Note that multipliers built on the triggering spin do not carry into the bonus; you start the feature building from scratch, but what you build then persists. The feature RTP is quoted at 96.27%, matching the default base figure.

Jawbreaker Overload

The premium round. Every cell begins with a multiplier already on it, which removes the slow first-pass accumulation phase entirely and means the very first win of the feature is already amplified. Feature RTP is 96.34%, the highest of the four quoted. This is the route to anything near the cap.

FeatureSpins entries

Two purchase-style entries are listed. BonusHunt FeatureSpins runs at 96.26% RTP and raises the bonus frequency sharply: Any Bonus at 1 in 43.0, Candy Haul at 1 in 46.9 and Jawbreaker Overload at 1 in 524.4. Grab and Go FeatureSpins is quoted at 96.29%. The RTPs sit within four hundredths of a percent of each other, so no entry is a meaningfully better or worse mathematical deal than another; they only change how quickly you reach the features.

Reading the maths

RTP versions

The default build returns 96.27%, but the game also ships in a 94.24% version and the operator chooses which to run. That is a two-percentage-point gap, which is substantial. Check the game's info screen at your casino before staking anything; if it reads 94.24%, you are playing a materially worse game than the one reviewed here.

Hit rate and bonus frequency

At 26.24%, roughly one spin in four returns something. For an all-scatter cascader that is on the lean side, and because small cascades pay small, a large share of those hits will be sub-stake returns that trim the decline rather than reverse it. Expect long flat stretches.

The bonus numbers reinforce that. Any Bonus arrives once per 233.6 spins in the base game, which at a brisk pace is a session of ten to fifteen minutes between triggers on average, with plenty of natural runs twice that length. Candy Haul is the realistic target at 1 in 249.0. Jawbreaker Overload is a genuine rarity at 1 in 3,790.8 - roughly fifteen times scarcer than Candy Haul, and something most players will simply never see organically. If you want it, the BonusHunt entry at 1 in 524.4 is the only practical route, and even that asks for patience.

Max win and bankroll

Bullshark does not publish a usable volatility figure for this title, so judge it by the structure instead: a 26.24% hit rate, a 1-in-234 bonus and a 10,000x ceiling describe a game whose value is concentrated in rare events. Size stakes for 500 spins minimum, not 100. The 10,000x cap is also the lowest tier in the studio's range - several stablemates reach 12,000x and 20,000x - so the top end is capped slightly tighter than the mechanic's x100,000 cell ceiling might suggest.

Merlin's Mania96.31%35.77%12,000x6x5 all-scatter

Against its closest siblings, Gobstopper Grind sits mid-pack on hit rate and bottom of the group on maximum win. Merlin's Mania is the obvious contrast: a far busier 35.77% hit rate on the same grid type and a higher cap. If you prefer frequent feedback, that is the better fit, and you can compare the full range on our Bullshark Games hub.

Who it suits and who should skip it

This suits players who enjoy watching a mechanic build - the cell grid filling with values during a long cascade is legitimately engaging - and who are comfortable with a quarter-hit-rate game that pays its rent in the bonus. The persistent-multiplier Candy Haul is a clean, readable round, and the maths is honest in that feature RTPs track the base figure almost exactly.

Skip it if you want regular returns, if 10,000x feels thin for the patience required, or if your casino is running the 94.24% build. UK players cannot access it at all.

Verdict

Gobstopper Grind is a well-constructed cascader with a multiplier system that rewards understanding rather than hoping. The per-spin reset in the base game is a sensible brake, the Collector adds a real distributional wrinkle, and the feature RTPs are consistent to within eight hundredths of a percent. The defects are concrete: a 10,000x cap that is the lowest in the studio's catalogue for a game asking this much patience, a Jawbreaker Overload at 1 in 3,790.8 that is effectively unreachable without buying in, and a 94.24% alternative build that operators may be running. Solid, with caveats you should verify before you stake.

Gobstopper Grind pros & cons

Pros
  • Cell Multiplier system compounds meaningfully across long cascades, with Collector concentration adding genuine upside
  • Feature RTPs are tightly consistent (96.26%-96.34%), so no entry route is a worse mathematical deal
  • Candy Haul's persistent multipliers across the whole feature is a clear, readable improvement over the base game
  • Default 96.27% RTP sits at the healthy end of the studio's range
Cons
  • A 94.24% RTP version exists and operators choose which to run - always check the info screen
  • 10,000x maximum win is the lowest tier in Bullshark's catalogue despite the demanding structure
  • Jawbreaker Overload at 1 in 3,790.8 in the base game is realistically out of reach without a FeatureSpins entry
  • 26.24% hit rate with per-spin multiplier resets means long, flat stretches between anything substantial

How often does Gobstopper Grind trigger a bonus?
In the base game, Any Bonus hits once per 233.6 spins on average. Candy Haul is 1 in 249.0 and Jawbreaker Overload is 1 in 3,790.8. Via BonusHunt FeatureSpins those improve to 1 in 43.0, 1 in 46.9 and 1 in 524.4 respectively.
