Binance Casinos: BNB Deposits Explained

Three different things get called “Binance” at a casino cashier, and the difference matters:

• BNBis a cryptocurrency. It can be sent from any compatible wallet over BNB Smart Chain (or opBNB) to a deposit address the casino gives you, exactly like Bitcoin or Ethereum. This is what almost every “Binance casino” actually offers.
• Binanceis the exchange where most people buy BNB and other coins. It is not a payment method in itself.
• Binance Payis, in Binance’s words, “a contactless, borderless, and secure crypto payment solution” inside the Binance app for paying merchants that Binance has onboarded, or sending crypto to other Binance users. It is not an exchange, and it only works with merchants Binance has approved.

Binance’s own merchant rules for Binance Pay list “illegal and/or unlicensed casinos, gaming and/or gambling (online and offline)” among restricted businesses, and list a number of countries as unsupported for the product, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, Singapore, India and the Philippines (the list is non-exhaustive and changes). Separately, Binance withdrew from Canada in May 2023, serves US customers only through the separate Binance.US entity, and the UK Financial Conduct Authority states that Binance Markets Limited is not permitted to undertake any regulated activity in the UK.

So very few casinos are true Binance Pay merchants. What a casino calling itself a Binance casino normally provides is a BNB deposit address on BNB Smart Chain. That works from any compatible wallet, Binance-hosted or not, and has nothing to do with Binance Pay.

Every on-chain BNB transfer pays a small network fee. If you move coins off the Binance exchange, Binance charges its own withdrawal fee, and buying BNB on Binance costs its standard 0.1% trading fee for regular users. Check whether the casino adds a fee on deposits or withdrawals; some do.

Binance Pay is tied to a fully verified Binance account (you cannot use it without completing identity verification) and every BNB transfer is recorded on a public blockchain. A licensed casino verifies your identity before paying out whatever rail you use. What crypto does avoid is sharing your card or bank details with the casino.

Blockchain transfers cannot be reversed, which cuts chargeback fraud, but it also means a mistaken or stolen transfer is gone for good. Exchanges, bridges and casino wallets have all been hacked: Binance itself lost about 7,000 BTC in a May 2019 breach, and the BNB Chain bridge was exploited for 2 million BNB in October 2022. Withdraw winnings to a wallet you control rather than leaving them in a casino account.

BNB is volatile. It has moved by hundreds of dollars within a single year, so the fiat value of a casino balance can change materially between deposit and withdrawal. Track your gambling spend in your own currency, not in coins.

Crypto is now regulated in the UK (FCA registration and the cryptoasset financial-promotions rules in force since October 2023) and in the EU (the MiCA regime, applied to stablecoins from June 2024 and to service providers from December 2024). Gambling regulators set their own conditions: the Gambling Commission requires an anti-money-laundering assessment and key-event reporting before a licensee accepts crypto, and the Malta Gaming Authority approves it case by case. In practice most casinos that take BNB are licensed offshore, where those protections do not apply, and whether you may legally play depends on your own country’s gambling law rather than on Binance.
